I'm sorry I haven't been so active with my blog in the last few days, I have been little bit busy with university and other stuff lately but now I am back here and gonna write you little bit about my views about 2011 season which ended couple weeks ago and also I'm going to analyze little bit what's in front at 2012 :)
Season ended with Sebastian Vettel as a clear champion, congratulations for him. He's now double world champion and also the youngest double world champion around. In my point of view 2011 season wasn't very entertaining one. I enjoyed much more the first part of the season than the second part. In first part of the season we saw more interesting races and much more action, because on the first races Pirelli gave teams tyres which lost it's best quality in few lap. Because of low grip of tyres, we saw lot of action when drivers with better grip of tyres were able to attack drivers with low grip of tyres and so on. Everyone was on the situation once the tyre grip was low. Also the DRS made more action during te first part of the season than on the second part.
What we remember about 2011 season in general? Vettel was unbeatable during the whole season, and even team mate Webber was struggling to catch Vettel. In qualifyings Webber were sometimes close, even faster than Seb, but for some reasons the race pace was never igual to Vettel. Other thing which everyone will remember is how Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa had their moments on the track. In general Hamilton had problems this season, he's struggling cause team mate Jenson Button is strong, and also his personal life affected very much. In my point of view Hamilton behaved in a wrong way very often. "Maybe it's because I'm black" and other comments like that were ridiculous. Hamilton still needs to learn to accept he made a mistake himself and apologize for that. And other McLaren driver Jenson Button showed again his greatness. He was amazing this season, even Vettel won the most, but what Button was able to do on the track impressed me again and again. GP of Canada was great show thanks to Button, and it was definitely the best race of the year in my point of view. And what about Ferrari drivers? I think Alonso did nothing special this year. He got one victory. And in too many races Alonso was played in front of Massa by the team. And everyone says that Massa had dissapointing season. Well yeah in the view of results maybe, but he had tons of bad luck, team playing with him, and Hamilton crashing into him. I think Felipe could have been on podium many times without all these things happening. Team made huge number of mistakes on Massa's pitstops, but none on Alonso's pitstops. Sorry but it's just too easy to see through. It's sad to see how Massa is just a toy in the team because Alonso wants to be number one, always. I just hope 2012 will be much better for Massa, I hope it with my full heart and soul because he really deserves one.
Mercedes were clearly the team behind top 3 teams. But after Mercedes, it was close fight, In some races it was Force India to be 5th best team, in some races it was Toro Rosso, some races it was LRGP or Sauber.. It was nice to see close fight in the middle field. Williams team sadly was another dissapointment this year, with not so good car. And something positive from the back, Team Lotus was able to improve. They were on their own field, much time diffrence to the back but also some into front. But in races Heikki Kovalainen was very strong this season and was able to try to fight with guys with better cars - it was so great to see and I think Team Lotus will be able to score points with new package and also new team name - Caterham. Also, surprisingly, I saw something positive o HRT. For example in Brazilian GP qualifying, both HRT's were in front of Marussia Virgins. I think maybe Virgin will have some difficulties at 2012? Because also HRT has new owner and so on, and Virgin moves away from Marussia project. Let's see what's the situation of our "slow teams" next year. I am sure Team Lotus (Caterham) isn't listed to the slow teams next year.
And well, about DRS and new tyres. I am not sure is the DRS really needed. DRS made overtaking possible, yeah. But in some places it just seemed to be too easy to overtake with DRS, it was impossible to try to fight for positions when the driver with open DRS was just too fast. But DRS also give some action. I am not sure what to think about it but.. why should DRS be used? Is there anything like this in other motorsport series to make overtaking easier? No there isn't. DRS is little bit something that breaks the rule of real overtaking and real racing. The cars have KERS, and FIA ordered tyres from Pirelli which loose grip easily. Isn't these tyres enough to make the action which is wanted? During the season Pirelli changed the tyres to stay for longer, and there wasn't so much problems on fast grip loosing than at hte beginning of the season. I think it was wrong decision. The tyres gave us so much to be excited about in the first couple races. And also on some tracks FIA failed to choose a right place for DRS or made the DRS zone too short that there was not much use for it. So what I think is that we should forget whole DRS thing, let Pirelli do tyres with fast grip loose, and let drivers race and fight on the track.
And 2012 - what to expect? I am waiting for the season so much and it's so hard to spend these months wihtout F1. We have Kimi Räikkönen back with LRGP and so on. It will be nive to see what Kimi can do, but I think he will not be on the pace from the first race. Aldo depends what kind of car LRGP will have next year. It's hard to analyze anything yet because we have no idea what kind of cars teams will have. The rules will not change much, but because of all these blown diffuser etc. are banned for next season, I think others will be closer to Red Bull next year. Also of course there will be new inventions which might get banned during the season or which all teams will copy to their cars. But in general I have a feeling that 2012 season will be more interesting and will have more action than 2011. Of course I really really hope there will be real fights for the wins, and not just like one man starts from the pole and wins the race easily. Let's see. Now we will have this winter break, some cars will be released at January and so on. We don't even know yet all drivers of 2012 and whoäs gonna drive where. There's still lot of questions on the air, but slowly we will get those answers we want.
